My name is Cían Harte and I am from Riverstown in County Sligo, Ireland. I graduated from Queen's University of Belfast, Northern Ireland, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Ancient History/Modern History (major/minor respectively) in the summer of 2012. In the winter of 2013 I again graduated from Queen's with a Masters in Ancient History.
I have written a local history book detailing County Sligo's most famous, infamous, never recorded and forgotten men and women of war spanning a broad range of time. The book Soldiers of Sligo is available through this website.
I am currently researching the twelve men from my local village of Riverstown who died while in service during WWI, with the intention of publishing the details in some manner or form before Christmas 2014 - stay tuned or subscribe to our mailing list for notification on publication.
Additionally I formatted my MA dissertation, The Conquest of Persia: Alexander the Strategist into a readable paperback book. This relatively short and concise study argues that Alexander, albeit considered among one of the most successful generals of antiquity and indeed of all time, lacked the ability to formulate effective strategy.
